Welcome to our cosy country pub and hotel on the Isle of Bute.

Located in the South of the idyllic Isle of Bute, with views of green fields, rolling hills and Kilchattan Bay sits The Kingarth Hotel and Smiddy Bar, a friendly, welcoming, family run hotel proud of its good food and licensed bar.

The Kingarth is host to 3 bedrooms upstairs and 2 beautiful courtyard rooms. We also have a lovely function suite seating 60 plus guests and a Club Lounge for parties up to 25 guests.

Steven and Alayne are pleased to welcome you to their beautiful Kingarth Hotel and Smiddy Bar.

Steven originates from Glasgow. “My Gran, originally from Dunfermline (Jean McKenzie from Columshill St.) lived most of her life in Rothesay. My Mum, Anne met my Dad (Norman, a naval officer) at a dance in Port Bannatyne and were later married at the Trinty Church, Rothesay”.

For the first 13 years of my life, Rothesay was my only holiday destination.

Alayne is originally from Edinburgh. “I lived and worked in Edinburgh until I felt I needed new challenges and opportunities. Therefore I spent the next 16 years living and working in The Kingdom of Bahrain. I always wanted to return to Scotland and instantly fell in love with Bute.

We are so lucky that we already have family and friends living on the island. Oh and of course our friendly, beautiful dogs Susie and Cleo.

We want our wonderful hotel to be renowned for a warm welcome, fabulous food and drink, in a cosy family environment that you will want to come back to, again and again.

If you are not completely happy please tell us. If you are happy then please tell everyone else”.

Ps. Dogs and well behaved owners are very welcome.
