The Isle of Bute is one of Scotland's most accessible islands. Only 35 miles from Glasgow, there are regular train services to the ferry terminus at Wemyss Bay and the trip from Glasgow by car is only approximatley 40 mins.The Wemyss (pron. Weems) Bay ferry takes about 35mins and runs every 45mins during the day and evening. Bute is also reachable via the 5 minute ferry service from Colintraive at the north end of the island.

When you reach Rothesay turn left off the ferry. We are at the Kingarth T-Junction at the south end of Bute, exactly seven miles from Rothesay.
